There are three galleries in Edinburgh, the National Gallery, the Portrait Gallery and the
Gallery of Modern Art, which hold the nation's collection of Scottish art. It is a marvellously rich and varied collection ranging in date from the 16th century to the present day, including works by artists of world stature and by others hardly known outside the Galleries themselves.
