Learn the history of life in the Mearns. how farming, barley-growing and whisky production have gone hand in hand for generations. Listen to the Fettercairn story; from 1824 to the present day. entertainingly recounted in the comfort of our audio-visual presentation suite.

Follow in the footsteps of Queen Victona who visited Fettercairn and fondly recalled it as a "small, quiet town ". See for yourself the magnificent stone archway erected in the village to commemorate her visit.

Find out how only the finest natural ingredients are skilfully brought together to make Fettercairn single malt whisky not only prized amongst the world's finest drinks. but unique amongst other whiskies too.

Walk round the Distillery and view the various stages in the distilling process. Smell the rich aroma of fementation as it gently fills the air. Admire the beauty of the old pot stills, hand beaten from copper and whose distinctive shape contributes to the individuality of the whisky.

Peer through the glass of the padlocked spirit safe and catch a first glimpse of raw whisky prior to being transferred into oak casks for maturation. At this point the distiller uses his skill to make the crucial judgement which ultimately determines the quality of the whisky.

Let time stand still as you view the full oak casks in a darkened warehouse. For at least 10 Iong years the whisky will sit here undisturbed, quietly maturing at a pace in harmony with nature from whence it was created.

Relive a little of the history of the North East of Scotland, where to this day the distilling process remains unchanged. Accept a dram of Old Fettercairn as a sourvenir of your visit and take with it a small part of our heart and heritage.

How to get there:-

Whether approaching from the North or South, Fettercairn is easily reached. Approximately 5 miles inland off the A94 main Perth to Aberdeen Road, you have a choice of 4 access roads between Brechin and Laurencekirk. Alternatively travelling south from Deeside take the mountainous B974 from Strachan.
