When I began to try to set up a new church ministry, I was filled with ardor and religious fervor. You might say that I was so excited that I never thought about how to start a church. It turns out that learning how to start a new church is rather difficult. There are so many factors to consider, beyond the obvious ones. Not only do you have to make sure that your congregation has the passion and the dedication that a new church requires, but they also have to have the resources. Starting a new church is not an easy task. It will test your faith as well as your perseverance.

The first step to how to start a new church is making sure that you have the space required. Churches can be started in all kinds of buildings. Ideally, you will have a beautiful place to worship, but I have seen churches started in the storefronts of commercial buildings. I have even seen churches that were located in basements. As long as you have a community of worshipers, you can start a church.

Nonetheless, there is no reason to settle with less when there are resources available. If you do not know how to start a church, there are ministerial licenses available. These programs will show you every step of how to start a church, as well as how to lead a congregation. In addition, there are many grants for start up churches. They depend on your faith and whether or not there are people who want to fund a new church in your area. If you are lucky, tens of thousands of dollars may be available.

The most important step in figuring out how to start a church is making sure that your congregation is behind you 110%. I cannot overstate the importance of this factor. Ask three people how to start churches, and at least two of them will say that if the congregation is ready, the church will come. Although money is helpful, it is not necessary. What is necessary is community involvement. I've seen people figure out how to start a church with nothing but the passion of their followers. If you want to start a church without passionate followers, however, you can have as much money as you want and it still won't work. The church is not the building, after all. The church is the people.
