Penicuik" Oil on canvas 57 x 80 inches National Gallery of Ireland, Dublin. Sir John Clerk succeeded his father in the baronetcy of Penicuik in 1784. He was the nephew of John Clerk of Eldin, cousin of the judge Lord Eldin. He married Rosemary Appleby D'Acre of Kirklington in Cumbria, granddaughter of
Sir George Fleming, Lady Clerk was widowed in 1798, and lived for many years thereafter at 100 Princes Street, Edinburgh. Help find these
