Running Shoes # 2
I remember when I was in fourth or fifth grade, Nike running shoes were
very popular. These shoes were quite simple back then, and did not have
many of the features that they have today. The most important thing
about owning a pair of Nike shoes was to have the swoosh on the side.
They came in quite a few different colors, and many of the girls I
knew, including myself, wanted to have the pink ones. They
weren’t very expensive back then, but oh how things have
changed.
Today a pair of Nike running shoes will cost you quite a bit of money.
They did not cost nearly that much when I was young, but that was
before sneakers became what they are today. Though you don’t
hear many stories about people robbing each other for their shoes
anymore, this was something that happened on occasion in the past. The
thought of mugging someone just to take their Nike running shoes is
quite amusing to me, but I am sure it was not funny to those who had to
go through it. It is pretty sad when a fashion statement become so
expensive that people have to do this to each other.
Today,
Nike running shoes are about much more than their swoosh. They have
many different features from which to choose, and they are made
specifically for those who need comfort and support while playing
sports. This doesn’t mean that other people don’t
buy Nike running
shoes, but if they do so, it is more of a fashion statement than
anything else. Most pairs of Nike running shoes that I have seen look
pretty good, but there are some that are clearly made for the athlete
only.
In some ways, Nike running shoes are more of a fashion
statement for boys than they are for girls. Because these types of
shoes cost so much money, I am glad that I have a little girl rather
than a little boy. It is going to be hard enough for me to buy her
clothing that she wants without having to worry about buying Nike
running shoes all of the time. Knowing my luck, these shoes will go
back into fashion just as she starts school, and she’ll be
begging me
for them all of the time. I never want to spoil my daughter, but there
are some things that you like to do for your children, and have a nice
clothes is one of them. I guess I’ll have to bite the bullet
and buy
the shoes.
