High Heeled Boots

I have a friend that is very dear to me. We met when we were both working as social workers for a county social service agency. It did not take us long to discover that we both enjoy gambling and that our favorite place is Las Vegas. We had been working together about two years when we decided that we would take a trip to Vegas together. My friend is medium height and thin. She has an obsession for shoes. Her greatest weaknesses are high heeled boots. She has several pairs in various colors and styles.

Her flamboyant foot wear and bleached blonde hair cause people that do not know her to assume that she is dumb. She is anything but. When she turned fifty years old she decided that she was tired of being a social worker. She applied for law school and passed the examination. She started taking night classes and continued to work full time. After her first year she quit working where I do and concentrated on law school.

Her husband had a good paying job so he was able to support them. I would still see her on a regular basis. We decided to spend a weekend at a local casino. I could not believe when she came walking toward me in high heeled boots that she had her jeans tucked into. The high heeled boots came up over her knees. She was very proud of them and told me that she got a great deal on them at the mall. During most of the evening I noticed people looking at her when she walked by. In a way I felt sorry for her because most of the people were just shaking their heads. I think she is going through a mid life crisis.

When she finished law school and taking her bar exam we decided to celebrate by taking another trip to Vegas. We bought tickets for one of the hot new shows. We agreed that we would bring evening clothes for the night that we went to the show. I picked her up the morning of our flight. I could not believe that she had on a pair of the high heeled boots. I reminded her of the amount of walking that we do in Vegas. She said that she wanted to have them along and it was easier to wear them than to pack them.

We arrived in Vegas in the morning so we were unable to check into our room. We checked our bags and decided to walk along the strip to see what had changed since our last visit. As we were going through the revolving door of one casino she caught the heel of the high heeled boots in the crake at the base of the door. She fell down on the marble floor. She scraped her hand and knee and twisted her ankle. After this incident she has admitted that the high heeled boots are not the most practical travel shoes.
