I used to be a little bit of a tomboy growing up. It's not that I like sport so much, or enjoy the company of boys over girls. It's simply that women's fashion is so complicated. I didn't really want to put the effort into it. Wearing boys clothes, I could just throw on a shirt and a pair of jeans and be done with it. Guys take it for granted, but they really have it much easier than we do. Honestly, I would have continued to be a tomboy if I hadn't discovered the joy of high heeled boots.

I actually first tried high heels boots when my sister took me to my first concert. It was a Hole show, and I was just crazy about Courtney love. When my sister offered to lend me a pair of her nice high heel boots, I was so thrilled! I looked up to my older sister, even if I did not share her taste in fashion. If my mom had asked me to wear even the most modest low heel shoes, I would have balked. When my sister, however, offered me her pair of high heeled cowboy boots, I jumped at the chance.

At first, I hated wearing the high heeled boots. They were so uncomfortable, and it was almost impossible to walk. I kept fearing that I would fall over and embarrass myself. I was even more uncomfortable because my feet are of different sizes. The left high-heeled boot rubbed me with every step. By the end of the night, I knew I would have a blister.

Nonetheless, there was something I liked about the high heeled boots. I was just starting to blossom into adulthood, and I really did enjoy the attention that wearing such attractive footwear gave me. I had seen how guys looked at women in high heeled shoes before, but I'd never had the chance to experience it myself. The high heeled boots made me feel attractive, feminine, and desirable. I knew that it was a feeling I could get used to! As soon as I could, I had my mom take me to buy a pair of high heeled boots myself. Although she was a little bit unhappy with the ones that I chose, she was more than happy to see me finally beginning to appreciate more feminine clothing. I have enjoyed wearing fancy women's shoes ever since.
