Business Logos

A lot of people in the corporate world are sick and tired of advertising and marketing. They point out – quite rightly – that people are less and less responsive to marketing and advertising. They often only make the most cursory attempts to publicize their business. They are indifferent to matters of corporate branding such as company logos. Nonetheless, the stuff still makes a huge difference. It is true that business logos are not as powerful to the psyche as they once were. People see so many corporate logos every day that they have become immune to them. Nonetheless, a business with a good business logo is still much easier to remember than one without one. Success or failure still often comes down to the design of the business logos.

The thing is, no matter what the skeptics tell you,corporate identity is still a valuable commodity. It is true that people are not as responsive to your message as they once were. We have to be much sneakier if we want people to see our corporations in the same way. For example, you can not go out and tell someone that you are number one anymore and expect them to believe you. Business logos don't work this way, however.

Aesthetic sensibility will never die. Even without advancing a particular corporate identity structure, business logos can still give a feeling of confidence in the product. They can soothe, excite, or even inspire in certain abstract ways. Business logo design is still worth the time and expense that it takes.

It is important that your company takes an active role in designing its business logos, however. It does not work to let a design firm take over the whole process. They may know more about the aesthetics of design, but you know more about what your company should be seen as.

Business logos, you see, along with slogans form the core of corporate identity. People will believe your business is its logo. Do you think Starbucks would have succeeded without such a calm, soothing logo? Do you believe McDonald's would be what it is today without the the bright cheeriness of the Golden Arches? Of course not! Business logos have always been, and will always be, central to the establishment of any brand. Without a corporate logo, a corporation is just a cold faceless entity. It is the function of the logo to cover up this facelessness with a palatable mask.
