It is the most rapidly growing economy in the world. So there is naturally a tremendous amount of interest in China and especially doing business in China. Most of the largest corporation worldwide already have a China presence or are in the process of setting up one. And there is no reason why anyone should delay things. For China has well and truly arrived on the global scene as not just a cheap manufacturing destination, but also as a viable business partner in its own right.

Gone are the days when communism had deeply entrenched roots in China. Although the government remains communist in nature, you would scarcely realize this if you happen to be a businessman seeking business in China. For all people like you seeking business in China, there is a separate category of government you will confront. One that is as interested in capitalism as you are. This is why most of the companies are able to establish business in China in relatively short periods of time. Those that have not been able to do so have waited because either their business in China has not found enough support from the government or their business in China could put local outfits out of business.

One of the most interesting things about doing business in China is that it continues to thrive on the backbone of a strong manufacturing industry. Earlier, firms that wanted to do business in China approached local manufacturing companies and got their goods manufactured by them. Nothing much has really changes since then. While there are several reasons why doing business in China makes a great deal of economic sense, there are also some obstacles. One of the foremost is the language. Most average Chinese with little or no basic education can speak nothing but the local language. Which is why a vast number of middle managers, especially in companies that have clients in the United states or elsewhere, are expatriates. The second impediment to business in China is the deplorable human rights and labor rights law of the country. This is probably the only country on earth where sweatshops are a large scale industry. But this has also conversely been one of the key selling propositions for doing business in China.
