You know that you might be in over your head when you are starting a new business and you didn’t even know that a business name registration might be in order. I was a little overwhelmed with starting to work from a home office and the additional pressure of sorting through all of the details really made the whole experience really stressful.

I was even more stressed out when a friend of mine asked if I have looked into business name registration. This is solely due to the fact that I had no idea that this would even be necessary. I was starting a small organization with just one employee under me. What would I need to learn about business name registration?

Not only was the whole thing a little scary for me I was also generally annoyed with my friend’s tone. She sent an email that was a little more than condescending and what made matters worse was her spelling. She wrote “buisness name registration” in the text of the email.

I wanted to reply with a curt remark about her error when I noticed that she also misspelled the word in the subject line as well. I didn’t notice before catching the one in the text of the email but the mistake, “buisness name registration” was glaring at me after I looked down my list of subject lines in my account.
Could it be possible that my condescending acquaintance that has nothing better to do but unravel my last nerve could be so mistaken? She is quick to point out each and every one of my mistakes. Maybe she wrote buisness name registration to bait me. She really wanted me to call and correct her.

I wasn’t about to take the bait. After all, she was doing me a backhanded service by brining the subject to my attention. I would have never thought to consider looking into business name registration if it weren’t for her borderline rude email. I just wish that she would be more tactful.

Instead of saying, “If you are going to run a small company then you better start doing your homework. Have you even looked into buisness name registration?” she could say something a little more encouraging.

I did discover that business name registration wasn’t necessary in my case since I was using my given name. I did thank my friend for her input without pointing out her spelling error.
