GLENLUCE ABBEY
near STRANRAER. ( A ' Historic Scotland ' site ).
Founded by Roland, Earl of Galloway in 1192, the ruins of this Cisterian house occupy a site of great natural beauty. It was visited by Robert the Bruce and james 1V. Mary Queen of Scots stayed here during a royal progress. Car parking. Bus parking. Exhibition. Reasonable wheelchair access. Disabled toilets. Open summer only Weekends in winter.
