DOUNE CASTLE.
near CALLANDER. ( A ' Historic Scotland ' site ). The formidable 14th century courtyard castle was built for the Regent Albany. The striking keep-gatehouse also combines domestic quarters including the splendid Lord's Hall with its carved oak screen, musician's gallery and double fireplace. Used as a film location for the BBC production of Ivanhoe. Car parking. Exhibition. Shop. Picnic Area.
