CARDONESS CASTLE
GATEHOUSE of FLEET. ( A ' Historic Scotland ' site ). The ancient home of the McCullochs, this 15th century four-storey tower house stands on a rocky platform above the Water of Fleet. The fireplaces in the great and upper halls are particularly fine. Open summer only (
April - September ), and at
weekends in winter. Car parking. Bus parking. How to get there:- 1 mile south west of Gatehouse of Fleet, on the A75. Tel:- 44 (0) 1557 814427.
